Framing the Day

Time sheds its dust in the corners of the workshop. Tobacco smoke sticks to the walls. Cigarette ash turns to powder in the cracks whilst the yellowed leaves on the calender wrinkle and remain unchanged, standing still. Work comes in and work goes out, sometimes busy, mostly slow. Forgotten repairs uncollected become tangled piles of worn plastic and greased metal as their cables settle in heaps or corners melding into the scene, becoming permanent. Time turns black to grey, and then grey to white whilst memories condense in piles of papers. Tea stain circles brand discarded receipts, the call to prayer, faithful as the sunrise frames the day.
